Citrus Turmeric Immunity Shots

I talked about this briefly on my Instagram, but one of my 2020 goals is to make Kitchen 335 a little bit healthier. I love the desserts I put up on this page so much, but I do want to make sure I am giving all my people some wellness, too! That being said, today we are talking about my favorite Citrus Turmeric Immunity Shots! My husband and I take these every morning and they are packed full of all kinds of good stuff to get your day going.

I love these health shots because they are so versatile. You can add or remove whatever you want to suit your needs and tastes. Some people can’t handle too much acidity, so they can remove use fewer lemons and less apple cider vinegar in favor of more oranges and extra virgin olive oil. If you want more of the anti-inflammatory magic of turmeric in your life you can add 3 or 4 tablespoons.

I want to break down all of these ingredients for you real quick so you know exactly why I chose each one.

Ingredients

Orange- High in Vitamin C, fiber, thiamine, folate, and potassium.

Lemon- Naturally detoxifying and high in Vitamin C, much like oranges. They are great for immunity.

Turmeric- Anti-inflammatory, linked to increased brain function, lowers the risk of heart disease, among other things. Basically, it’s a wonder spice!

Ginger- Has naturally powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, can help to reduce muscle pain and soreness, and help with indigestion.

Black pepper- Black pepper has its own benefits, but it is added to these shots because it can help to boost the absorption of turmeric by up to 2,000%.

Apple Cider Vinegar- Aids in lowering blood sugar levels, can aid in weight loss, contains prebiotics that are good for gut health.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil- A healthy fat full of antioxidants.

Some of these ingredients are acidic, so I suggest taking this shot with food so as not to upset your stomach!

Citrus Turmeric Immunity Shots

Health shots packed with everything you need for an immunity boost.

Ingredients

For Health Shots:

  • 2 large oranges peeled
  • 2 small lemons peeled
  • 2 tablespoons turmeric powdered or fresh
  • 1 tablespoon ginger powdered or fresh
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

For Health Shots:

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until extremely smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze.
  • Defrost one cube every morning and drink with food.

Citrus Turmeric Immunity Shots

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender (I use this one and I love it) and blend until extremely smooth. The smoother the mixture is the easier it will be to drink, trust me!
  2. Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze. I use an ice cube tray with a lid for easy storing (like this one).
  3. Defrost one cube every morning and drink with your breakfast.
